ok willing to accept that will try again next time we see something there with the tv off and see what comes up

xaebaby

someone pointed out to me that they didnt see where i was talking about so i am reposting with the area circled

ttjoon

It looks like a reflection of something that is in the house, just as the wall is reflecting back if you look on the right hand side of the pic.

What is outside the window where you circled it?  Is that the backyard, front yard, or side yard?

ttjoon

It looks like a fence and something in front of it? Patio cover?

i can see what looks like a bush and a reflection of something inside the house.  i don't think it is paranormal.  i took a photo on one of our investigations last weekend.  my shutter was open longer than normal and it was on the red eye reduction setting. i took the photo of a digital clock w/ a red readout. it morphed it into something really interesting.  if it weren't for people that know a lot more than i do about photography, i would swear i caught a red demon on film.

Did you actually see something there before you took the picture, or did it only show up in the picture?  Do you see something there all the time, is it always in the same place?  Hard to say for sure about anything without some more information.

One thing I did notcie, is that these are two seperate pictures.  So it appears it was a "static" thing.

Going off the picture at face value and assuming you can see what you have circled with the naked eye, here is what I think.  In that same window where you have circled, you can see another wall reflected, I see numerous pictures and such.  Most of that wall looks dark, with the exception of a lighted area on it; you have the reflection of that lit area circled.  Tilt your head about 20 degrees to the right and you will see that "lit" area looks pretty dang square, straight top with a 90 degree angle, then another straight side.  Now looking in the other window, I see a lamp.  That is a lamp correct and not a flash reflection on the wall?  Either way, near that area, is a picture (glass cover?) and some shiny reflective objects.

Barring other information and the ability to be there and move things and turn off lights, it looks like you are getting the reflection of a reflection.  If you are constantly seeing things near that window, I wouldn't be surprised.  People walking on the other side of the room, or other lights shining on the primary wall, would put stuff on that window.  Reflections of reflections can be tricky because you don't expect them.  For example, you could walk in the room, casting a shadow on that wall, you know where your shadow is and where it should be, but out of the corner of your eye you see a shadow move across that window.  It's actually still your shadow.

Just to be clear though, this is just my opinion, and I am not an expert, nor is this opinion related in any form to PPI  ;D

Agreed; it's consistent with reflections from the room, although the picture with the red circle looks clearer than the original post. Reflections are tricky things, and the human brain is apparently "hard wired" to find patterns and make sense of these patterns when no true context exists. Here's a wikipedia article about this phenomena: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradolia

ok so u guys saying reflection we think we sort of have managed to debunk our own photo - we think it is a reflection - reflecting from the front door to the window - we tryed by eliminating all light sources and covering non lighted reflectable surfaces - the spooky thing for us is we always see someone walk past that window via the corner of our eyes - which means we think they are not walking past the window but are instead behind us where we sit in our living room by the front door walking into the hall

forgot to add when we see someone walking by there no one is up and moving we will always be both sitting on the couch watching tv - so unless the tv images are somehow reflecting off something to something else to the front door then to the window... no idea what we see walking but the process atleast proved it wasn't where we thought it was coming from

leslie

Hey, look at the upper right hand corner of the TV. See the evil eyes? Just another example of how reflections play tricks.  I agree with Tracy and Brian this is a reflection in the window. Very cool though. Thanks for the pic!

by the way the other reflection you see is our front door - we figured that out - although we are still trying to figure out how something reflects fromt he front door and the front door itself reflects an image of itself into the same place - god my hosue is weird

xaebaby

btw the clearer picture is cuz i actually snapped off 2 of them i musta changed pics when i circled it and not realized it- so there are indeed 2 different photos

Are there lights outside your front door?  It may not be a reflection of your front door, but rather light shining through it.  The wall it is shining on is dark, and the door would only let light through on it's windows.  Creating those squares, think like a projector.  Now any shadow that you put on the door, from pretty much anywhere will cancel some of that light coming through, putting shadows on that wall, which are then reflected on that window, like shadow puppets.  Except it is the actual shadow that can be making the puppet, hope that makes sense.

So in effect you could be seeing one factor of light being blocked, that being displayed on the wall, and that wall reflecting on your window.  Shadows and light can be tricky.  I figured you guys were catching shadows out of the corner of your eyes and such.  Glad you guys figured it out.

no light outside the front door there is a light outside the window - an old mercury vappr, my lviing room is shaped really weird - the wall you see refelected to the left has the hallway behind it but the other side where you don't see the wall goes back all the way to the hallway- creating a dark little cubby back there - where as the door isn't on those back walls its on a side wall - hard to explain anyways thank you all for giving me a good idea of how to eliminate some of the things that happen here - when enouph weird things happen you see weirdness in everything i suppose - it is however 1 less thing to get the creeps about - now just about 99 more to explain lol - up next is trying to figure out my wedding ring keeps going from my bedroom night stand to the hallway floor and why my dog has anxiety attacks and refuses to go outside.

MichaelF (FPIE)

Any chance your dog is playing with your ring?  I have to be very careful where I put my wedding ring, my cat loves to play with it.

xaebaby

thats what im thinking and hoping i can prove hubby doesnt think so because the dog sleeps with us and it isn't always my ring - its all round circle like objects - his ear plugs (stretched ears) my daughters play rings - anything with that shape - from different rooms - besides out bedroom also our bathroom which is around the coner from there - this is a bit of distance from my bedroom and no matter where it comes from it always ends up in the same spot - so video camera it is to see if we can figure out the ring thing - this house has been at it for 15 years and somethings i will never ever ever be able to explain - like how the heavy wood antique dining table flipped on its side and almost put my mom thru a window but these little things that freak us out everyday even getting rid of a few of them might make us feel better now that my daughter keeps telling me the old lady is really nice that isn't here. it her im worried for her i can live with anything and basically have for 15 years but she is 5 and starting to say things that we try to tell ourselves is just a kid playing and being imaginative but.. there comes a point when you have to look at it the other way too and see if u can solve it.

xaebaby

oh forgot to add because we keep hearing sighs when we are alone we also wanted to try to record them - recommendations we can use his laptop and i have a computer mic and we also have sound froge cuz hubby has a band will that be enouph or should i just break down and buy a digital recorder?

MichaelF (FPIE)

Sounds very interesting.  May want to try putting in a request for help on the PPi site, if you havn't already.  Good luck, and hope everything works out!

xaebaby

yeah i already did and they are going to help me later this year - we just want to try ourselves to eliminate everything possible before they come so we are not a. wasting their time and b. if we do have any "proof" it might help them and us get thngs under control here quicker

ttjoon

xaebaby - what is your geographical location?

MichaelF (FPIE)

That's great that they will be helping you.  If you ever need help debunking anything like that picture again feel free to shout.  I love helping with stuff like that.

This is certainly a reflection bouncing off the glass and into the lens. It's the same exact way they do the ghosts in the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland for the Ball Room scene.

"One of the Haunted Mansion's most head-scratching illusions is actually one of the least sophisticated. In the Grand Hall scene, ghosts fade in and out of view as they dine at a long banquet table and dance around a pipe organ. Startling in its realism, the illusion is based on the Pepper's Ghost effect named after the chemist that invented it in 1862. The props in the room are real; the ghosts are images of animatronic characters reflected in the glass in front of the scene. When guests ride by in their Doom Buggies, both the reflected images and the room visible through the glass merge into one scene."

Here is a fantastic site that tells about it...with PICTURES :) (my favorite)

graphic illustration of this works, you can see how glass in our homes can do the same effect

When the crypt goes creak,
And the tombstones quake.
Spooks come out for a swinging wake.
Happy haunts materialize,
And begin to vocalize.
Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize.

Now don't close your eyes,
And don't try to hide.

However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results. -
