Tales of haunted mirrors have been told for centuries. Here's a collection of some myths and legends involving haunted mirrors:

Now THIS is something I believe is true.  Had some experience with something along these lines.

Brian, is that video the right one?  I saw a drawer opening and a matress falling, but nothing in the mirror.  I was only able to watch it once though, videos suck at work.

As far as the topic itself, I believe that a lot of it is just superstition and folklore, but some of that may be based on fact.  Many older mirrors due to marks and such encourage matrixing and other tricks of sight as well.

Mirrors have long been used for scrying and other remote viewing practices, but there are also "mirror magic" occult uses as well.  As with any item used as a focus in negative occult practices, negative forces can become attached to them.  I also believe that there are many different "levels" of manifestations, each requiring differing levels of interaction and energy.  A full blown apparition that can be filmed, seen, or photgraphed is the highest level, but some apparitions can be psychic only, which is why they can't be filmed and such.  Perhaps on some level for some reason, it is easier for a spirit to appear in a mirror.

I think that at some level there is truth that mirrors can encourage spirit participation, yet I also think that due to movies, stories and such, mirrors have been blown way out of proportion.
200 years ago, our communication over computers would have been deemed magical and we all would have been burned at the stake.  200 years from now, explanations for what we call Paranormal will be in Science Textbooks.
