Why?  Why?  Why?
Why am I getting these crazies that think they have a ghost?
So I get an email a couple of weeks ago.  THis woman thinks she might have some paranormal activity.
Here's the jist of things.
At night, when her kids go to bed, apparently there is a spirit that doesn't want the kids going to bed.
What's going on?  As the kids are getting ready for bed, the parents are on the first floor and hear moaning and banging in the walls.
Now, we're all intelligent, right?  So most of you should already have this one figured out.
We did.  But the mother was scared.  So we figured it would be worth it to still go and in vestigate and show the mother what's going on to put her mind at ease.
So, we go over to the house.   20 minutes is all the investigation needed to take.
The mother sent the kids to bed, while we sat down stairs and waited.  Sure enough, moaning sound, then banging in the walls.
Well, the kids were going into the bathroom and brushing their teeth.  So they turn on the water, old house, pipes moan as water starts flowing, then the pipes shake and hit the studs in the wall.   Should have been an easy reveal, right?  Not a chance.  The mother refused to believe that's the cause, still insisting its a ghost.  Ok, so I send an investigator upstairs to turn on the water.  Moan, bang.   I send the mom upstairs to turn the water on herself.  Moan, bang.
Dad gets it.  Mom?  Nope.  Still a ghost.  She claims it the ghost producing the sounds becuse its angry the kids are going to bed.   And the turning on the water is what triggers the ghost.
Well, I just don't know what else to say.

I think a EVP session should be done.
The Mom should clearly hear a voice on a tape recorder say
"GET A PLUMMER!"

Sorry to hear about your reveal.
Sounds interesting...Go on.

Moaning and banging? If it were an apartment it could have been... well...

Oh believe me, there was a part of me that wanted to ask the mom if the kids were related.  LOL

The best advice I can give you is this. Tell the mom that you have conducted your investigation and have reached your conclusion. Based on your findings you do not believe the house to be haunted, rather they have old pipes. That's it. She WILL chose to not believe you, but that's not your problem. You did your job. Recommend a plumber. My pipe used to do that in my master bathroom, I fixed it myself and it was SOOOOOOOO easy to do. Under the sink was a cabinet where I could see the pipes and how they were fixed to the walls...one of the pipes was not tightened securely so I fastened it with a screwdriver, and whoa-la no more banging pipes....NO MORE GHOST :)

If you don't want to fix the pipes, then put a camera on it...you'll see it banging around most likely, unless this is IN the walls...then they have too much air in their water, and they should call a plumber.

At least she was cool about it and didn't threaten to sue us like that other nut we did an investigation for.
All the cases we seem to get lately are just from total wackjobs.
You guys aren't referring them to me, are you?  LOL   ;D

PPI Brian

We wouldn't do that to you Dave. But you may want to re-evaluatie your current advertising strategy...  :)

Seriously, it's just the luck of the draw. You never know what kind of cases you're going to run into in this field. As long as you keep doing what you're doing, you can feel good about being involved in the community. For every case that might not be legitimate, there are two or three out there that are. Hang in there, but be careful. Can't wait to hear about your next case.
