Somebody suffered from neglect as a child. :o

By George, I think you've got it!

How would you like to have this guy in your family portraits?  "Hi, this is my brother, the reptile.  Just call him Snake".

I'm just trying to imagine the excuses his family makes for him when he visits:

  • "Yes, he works for Cirque du Soleil, and it's in the contract that he can't take off the makeup.?

  • ?He's got that . . . uhm, . . . disease.  Whatchamacallit?  They have those infomercials about it.?

  • ?No, really.  We're so proud of him.  We even wear the 'Idiot Pride' shirts and march with him in all the parades.?

  • ?It's not his fault.  I had an illicit affair with a Halloween costume when I was eighteen, and he's the love child.?

  • ?It's a badminton accident.  We should have sued the net manufacturers.  Try not to stare.  It only provokes him.?

  • ?He claims this happened after going the full thirty seconds with Listerine, but I couldn't tell you for sure.?

  • ?It's something from my husband's side of the family.  I've never met a meaner pack of snakes in my life.?

  • ?Oh, you mean you've got this problem too?  Last year I had surgeons cut out the part of my brain that made him seem abnormal, but I don't think they removed it all."

Karl, Karl, Karl, Maybe he just had a tattoo of an ex girlfriend on his face and he wanted to cover it up with something less embarrassing.

it's the Cat Woman of New York...or that's what they called her on TV.
There's been a few stories done about her. Her face is nothing now, but
scar tissue.  She commented that plastic surgery has become an addition.

She obviously has low self esteem, and believes that cosmetic surgery will fix her skewed sense of "self". I think Micheal Jackson suffered from this same malady. Tons of money, and nobody around them with the guts to tell them they're out of control. It's extremely sad.

Just my two cents.

I think you hit the nail on the head, Brian.

What also amazes me is the fact that some surgeon was willing to do this. Come on...4 million sure is a lot of money, but what self-respecting doctor would want to be known for doing this kind of thing?

I guess the key word here is 'self-respecting'

Glenn, while I agree with that, it's probably not that cut and dry.  Sure some Doctors may refuse, not because they actually "care," but because they wouldn't want their name linked with such disfigurement.  Others may have the mentality of "well if I don't do it, she will get somebody else, even if it is some hack in Mexico."  Then lastly you get ones that actually do "care" in a warped way, because it is what makes her happy. How many people get liposuction, implants and other surgeries, not because something is wrong, but because it makes them "feel" better.  Where do you draw the line?

I would like to think that a responsible surgeon would send someone like that to a mental health pro first.

Glenn & Jen,
I think you both hit the nail on the head: "Self Respecting & Responsible".  Unfortunately, money is more important to some people than any values or morals.

There are many ways to help a person who is suffering, but supporting their dis-ease isn't doing anything but perpetuating the illness and becoming a catalyst for further dysfunction.

While personally Elle, I agree with you, the question is just where do you really draw the line?  Do you send somebody who wants a set of massive implants to a mental health provider, but not smaller?  Where do you draw the line and say "those are too big, you must be crazy."

I'm all for corrective plastic surgery for disfigurements, burns and such, but there is a huge market in plastic surgery for people who just want to improve their self esteem.  Some could argue that anybody who wants actual surgery to improve their self esteem should seek a mental health professional.  I'm not saying that some people arn't over the top like this woman, they are.  I'm just saying that some Plastic Surgeons already cross that line as soon as they start doing surgeries that are not "needed."

Don't get me wrong, I want to clarify before I piss anybody off.  I have no problem with people getting plastic surgery at all.  I just think it's hard to draw an actual line saying what is to much.

 When to draw the line:

1. When your nose has been operated on so many times that it finally abandons ship and falls into the cavern otherwise known as your face

2. When you can't get a cold because it has nowhere to "set up shop"

3. After 20 million surgeries, you still sound like your sister, dance like your sister, but you still don't look like her....but maybe you should redo the "Thriller" video now  ("hee hee, Shah-mon")

4. Your cheekbones have gotten so large and so high from implants that putting blush on them now totally blocks your field of vision

5. You cannot sleep because your eyes won't close and you continuously look like a deer in headlights  :o

6. You constantly drool because you can't feel your lips anymore due to the "super size me" collagen implants

7. One tube of lipstick is used per application because it?s barely enough to go around

8. And the number one reason to draw the line: You used to be Gene Simmons and you now resemble Bruce Lee

ms. presely may be

OMG, I know!  It just came out that she was the "victim of a botched plastic surgery".  Ya think?  Apparently, the doc that did the surgery really wasn't a doc at all.  Just a nurse.  I guess (according to Pricilla Presley) he injected her face not with collagen, but with something mechanics use that is basically carburetor oil or something just like it.

I guess she had the surgery 4 years ago (I kinda doubt that one) and it is now just starting to warp her face.  She really looks bad.  I find it really hard to even look at her.  She was such a pretty lady.  Both she and Dolly Parton.  Now they just both look like cartoons.  It is really sad.
