A new video is making its rounds through the internet. What do you think it might be?

Thanks for posting this, Brian.  This is an apt example of "Seeing is believing."  Unfortunately, what you believe you're seeing isn't always what is actually happening.  I'm gonna put on my "teacherly" hat and pose a couple of study questions:

Gather into small groups and discuss the following, with specific reference to the text of the video whenever possible.  Be prepared to justify your responses to others in the class.

  • What are the motives for people to label this a "ghost car"?  What psychological, emotional, or cultural factors influence people's belief in this?
  • Assuming it is improbable for this to be a ghost, what are the probable causes for the alleged phenomenon in this video?  (Note:  List all potential causes, whether obvious, speculative, or rare.)
  • In what ways does this video impact how we might investigate other paranormal phenomena, such as traditional haunting? Be as specific as possible in your response.

Thank you, class.  ;)
