Hey Guys,
I have a question.
Who do you think are the top ten experts in the field of the Paranormal and why?
Sounds interesting...Go on.

PPI Tracy

The term "Paranormal Expert" is an oxymoron. There are no such people.

How can you be an expert of something that is so much a mystery and when you really do not have concrete proof it even exists?

SCP Ellie

Yeah I would have to agree with Tracy. Perhaps the question should be, if you had a haunting and you could chose a list of investigators/psychics, which would you chose. Besides your own team of course.

As far as "experts" go, I completely agree that there aren't any. There are some, however, who have a lot of experience over some others. Paranormal Investigations and it's history dates so far back in time that it's just impossible to say who comes to everyone's mind. Quite a few spring to my mind actually, but I know if I sat down and really gave it some serious thought I'd be able to come up with a ton more. I'm going to start off with Harry Houdini, he was a grand master debunker who challenged all the mediums, psychics, sensitives and so on to prove they were the "real thing". They would do their little schpeal and in front of a paying audience, he'd proceed to duplicate everything they did....very impressive! Thomas Edison comes to mind as well with his invention of the voice recorder (phonograph, cylinder and disc), he soon realized that voices were being imprinted on his recordings...voices of people who were not around. I guess you could call those the first EVP. Harry Price comes to mind as well, he was pretty much the first person to use "modern" technology and apply it to paranormal investigations. His tools were "modern" for his time, they are seriously outdated by today's standards. Ed and Lorraine Warren spring to mind as well with their unbelievable research into Demonology! I know that they have been involved with over hundreds and hundreds of cases...one of which being the famous Amittyville Horror. I tend to believe that the Amittyville Horror story as we know it was a giant hoax, but I do believe that something is there...just not as insane as we were lead to believe. That is a completely different topic for discussion though. There are just too many people who stand out as being innovators of the field when it comes to investigating/researching the paranormal. With today's TV there are so many shows out there dealing with paranormal that it's done both good and bad for the field. Some shows educate, some shows exaggerate and some shows flat out fabricate! I like to keep my mind open to all sorts of different approaches and research...there is no one show who is right, and there is no one show who does it wrong (maybe 1 or 2 lol), but we have to face the fact that they are TV shows...TV shows need ratings to stay on the air! Even "reality" shows aren't so "realistic"!

PPI Tim

Ok,
So no one is an expert.
Alright.
Is there anyone out there currently living whose ideas make the most sense dealing with the paranormal?
Who are they?
Sounds interesting...Go on.

I keep an open mind and try to pick up a little here and a little there. I can't really think of anyone right now Tim.

I've been reading a lot about ITC and it's not new or anything, but I'm really trying to understand it. I'm thinking about whether or not to try out some video ITC on some cases. It's some trippy stuff, but like I said, I try to keep an open mind to all sorts of different techniques and what have you. http://worlditc.org/

here's a radio interview with some ITC people (you may have to fast forward for a bit). Mark Macy is loaded with info about it. http://www.ghostlytalk.com/archives/macyleader2.mp3

There are a lot of interviews I've listened to with Mark Macy about ITC. It's very interesting and a it's very hard for me to believe this is 100% real....but I thought I would share it. It's based entirely on science, and that's what makes the believer in me...well, believe it.

Here is an example of an ITC conversation between Mark Macy and a spirit. http://worlditc.org/sou_j_1_vlf.mp3 (the spirit is actually telling him how to improve his spiricom instrument, telling him what settings to use and how to connect it properly). Crazy stuff, absolutely hard as hell to believe it's real, but I must remain open minded. I've seen some things on TV that I don't believe is real as well, but others in the field do!

I take back what I said about the Warrens...I'm really disappointed with them right now.

Yeah, I have to admit that never sat well with me either. Not one bit, but dagnabit, I thought there was a possibility of them being "victim" to the Lutz's, now I know that to be false as they just did the same with Connecticut. What the heck? Now, I have no respect for them at all! None!!! I mean, I thought this was some compelling evidence, and now I have to question it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ee8RYGds9tM

LOL!  Don't forget Yvette's Greek Chorus of (non gender-specific) screaming Mimi's, whose raison d'etre is to be upstaged by her.  ::|

Oh and here you had me thinking that Bonnie Hunt went from her wildly popular day time talk show to paranormal investigating.  Dang, Dave!  Thanks a lot.

PPI Tracy

Okay...opinions here.  What do you guys think of Chip Coffee?

(Dave, I didn't say "Chop Suey"....it's Chip Coffee.  Not to be confused with Bonnie Hunt)  :D

Nope!  I meant Chipped Coffee Cup.  (yes...I meant Chip Coffey.  So what if I can't spell, Dayve!)

Well. I like him. Other then what he did with psychic kids of course. We all make mistakes. I really think Paranormal State needs him.

Based on what I can see from TV appearances, I have been impressed. With that said, there is a lot of editing involved with shows, and now...with the recent findings with the Connecticut Haunting (coffey is not involved), really leaves me scratching my head about who to trust and who not to trust. I am, however, a Coffey fan myself and I would absolutely HATE it if he was a fraud as well. My own feelings tell me to trust the guy, and so I am going with them. I would love to spend some time with him in person to really get to know him and his abilities before I am a 100% believer. As of right now though, I do feel he is the real deal.
