Is anyone familiar with this Home Depot?  I found out some very interesting information.  The person who told me this story had no idea that I was interested in the paranormal in any way whatsoever.

There was a little girl that was killed in this store by falling merchandise.  I wasn't told the exact date of the accident (as I was too interested in the other portion of the conversation) but after googling for it on the wonderful internet I found that there was a 3-year old girl that was killed by a falling door in a Home Depot in San Diego in 1992.  I'm beginning to think this was the same incident.  Anyway, ever since this incident there have been strange things that happen in the same aisle and the direct 5 aisles around where the little girl was sadly killed.  Things fly off of the shelves mostly, but there are other instances as well.  A stocker will just be finishing his work and walking out of the aisle when he hears something behind him.  When he turns around there is stuff all over the floor from the shelves he just stacked and he is alone in this section of the warehouse.  The ironic thing is that they are always the shelves that are at the approximate height of a little girl.  Another story is of guy using the restroom outside of store hours (I believe a trucker, but I'm not sure) who reported seeing a little girl in the mens restroom.  Knowing that there are no little girls working at the store during these hours (wee hours of the night), the manager went in and checked for what he knew wouldn't be there.  The trucker was then informed of what they thought was going on, and the trucker now refuses to step foot in the store to this day.

The most interesting thing about this suspected haunting is that it is intelligent.  One of the workers assigned to this area of the warehouse will politely ask her not to throw stuff off the shelves once he has cleaned his aisle.  As he walks out of the aisle he sees things start swaying and moving on the shelves but they don't go anywhere.  The last guy who stocked the aisle would just yell at her all the time.  Apparently that provoked her more and she would throw more stuff on the floor (maybe that's why he doesn't stock that area anymore).  The stocker that politely asks her not to throw things actually talks to her as he works, as in tells her where he's going and what he's doing among other things.  She seems to respond sometimes to his conversations.

I would so love to visit here with some equipment.  I asked the person telling me this story if they would let me, and he said probably not  :-[, but he would love for it to happen.  I made the suggestion of bringing in one of those cheap rubber balls that you could get at the drugstore for about a dollar and see if she did anything with it.  I remember seeing that used on the GH show once.  Maybe she would be interested in something that a real 3-year old would enjoy.  I guess it is pretty much common knowledge that she is there but no one has intentionally tried to capture anything.  Does anyone know if Home Depots usually have security cameras?  I've never really paid attention myself, but it would be interesting to know if there is indeed a possibility that any activity could have already been captured.  Then again they may not have the cameras due to not wanting their accidents actually caught on tape  :P, and it's not likely that they would let outsiders see them either...

200 years ago, our communication over computers would have been deemed magical and we all would have been burned at the stake.  200 years from now, explanations for what we call Paranormal will be in Science Textbooks.

Interestingly, when we did a case recently in Chula Vista, complete strangers came up to us at a convenience store and asked us if we had investigated the Home Depot in Imperial Beach.  I guess it has reached the level of local folklore.  Kinda cool. 8)

Yeah Karl, I remember that.  It would be very interesting to try and get into the place.  I don't believe they are independently owned, so in that case I guess you would have to get permission from their corporate office.  They probably don't want the press.  But, nothing ventured nothing gained.  It wouldn't hurt to ask.

Kristen

My gut instinct is that the corporate office would want nothing of the sort, especially since it is related to an accident that happened there.  They are REALLY into covering up such incidents (you can read it all over the internet).  The last thing they are going to want is someone bringing it back up as most people have probably put it away.

I still think they should be approached with the idea, but I wouldn't be surprised if we were let down.  An idea would be to get the original family involved to see if they would want to push for it.  The problem with that is you risk opening another can of worms.

Ellie used to work at The Holmes Depot over by Palm Avenue (east of 805), but her interview was at this Imperial Beach Holmes Depot. Anywhoooooo, they said we should do it some day, then they said that there's nothing there...then they said that we should do it...then they said that they could probably get us in...but now I'm unsure. Ellie doesn't work at the Holmes Depot no moe! Now she works at the Union Bank of Cali.

They person I talked to works there still, but they are not really willing to risk their employment reputation.  Maybe I can get them to change their mind.

Hah!  The sad thing is I usually do shop at Lowes.  I only go to Home Depot for the short trips since it's closer or I can get some kind of discount.

They wont let us do it.......Last time I checked they were under new management. They said it would be a liability or something. I know all the stories, but some say it was haunted and some said it wasnt.

I would imagine that they would appreciate the local publicity in time for Halloween. Maybe you could spin your request that way. Offer to send an account of the findings to the Union Tribune or something.

Or leave some covert audio and video bugs on the shelving ;) If you drop them off around closing and picked them up at open the next day, I betcha no one would ever notice.

Yeah, but what could you ever do with the evidence if you got any?  You couldn't exactly post it.

Visualize all of PPI (or any group) sitting at the regular coffee house, all looking at each other, nodding, smiling faces......"Wow...great evidence.  Yeah!  Amazing!  Uh huh".

"Okay guys, next subject on tonight's agenda".....
