AVP from Marlene

I received an email with a wav version of this clip from Marlene the other day, but just haven't had the time to respond. She asked for our opinion on this audio clip, which I converted to mp3 and attached to this thread. Here's the background info:

HI Brian:
 
I hope you are doing great!  Would you do me a favor and listen to this
EVP? It was taken at the [Location Omitted] wine cellar last Saturday
night between midnight and 12:30 a.m.  The wine cellar is below street
level if you've never been there.  There was a band playing but it was
playing oldies and honky tonk.  It came from an area where there's a brick
wall and it sounded like it was behind that.  I've never heard anything
like this before and really wanted to get your take on it.  You can also
pass on to your other members if you want for their opinion.

Hi, Marlene:

I've listened to this clip now a dozen times, and I concur with Brian's detailed reply.  The acoustic signature of the growl is consistent with the treble and bass not only of the distant band music, but with the guy who starts speaking into the mic near the end.  I agree, too, that one of the team members identified the sound as soon as any question of it came up.  For next time, however, the next practical step to have taken was to have accepted the team member's input that this was due to the band, and then to have gone into the next room and ask one of the audience members if someone just growled.  It's always best to follow up immediately with some fact checking:  look for the source, yourself, instead of being satisfied with the sense of mystery your experiencing.
