Do you believe that ouija boards are demonic in nature? Have you ever messed with one? Would you use it as a tool on an investigation?

I wouldn't use a ouija board on an investigation personally. I wouldn't use table tipping either. I have my own opinions of the board that I will stay quite about, but I just don't think they are a reilable source of evidence. Yes, when I was a young child, I messed with one a few times...but someone would always admit to pushing it.

I don't think that items are necessarily demonic in nature. ?I believe it is the person handling the item that can bring about evil happenings. ?I would not use a oija board on an investigation because I do not find them to be adequate means of capturing evidence. ?I have used a oija board, but never with negative energy, and as a result, have not experienced any adverse effects. ?A oija board is simply a means of communication, in my opinion, but if it is used irresponsibly, I can see how people might interpret it as a demonic item. ?However, I do not believe that inanimate objects have the ability to assume character, and therefore, would have to conclude that it is the handler of an item that directs negative energy into an object and brings about what could be seen as demonic occurrences.

Interestingly enough, I saw an "In Search Of..." episode today that had Witchcraft as its subject. Witches, who study black magic, use something called a witch board, which is similar to a ouija board. It was reported that the board produced "quick" results, but they weren't always gratifying---they backfired on the user.
I have used a ouija board, in the past, without any negative effects. Most of the time it was more then likely someone moving the marker on the board, I know I did.

However, I did experience some unusual events in view of witnesses...One Halloween, after driving around San Diego's Haunted Locations, a group of us played the ouija board back at my parents house. Before we began, we had decided to honestly see what would happen if no one messed with the marker. After about an hour, there were two people left holding the marker. It had only moved two inches within that span of time. We had a candellabra with 3 candles burning on the same table as the ouija board. Another person in the room blew out the center candle to dim the lighting in the room. When he moved his head back, after blowing out the center candle, the two flames on the opposite ends simultaneously reduced to almost nothing---it was literally pitch black in the room. After a few seconds, both flames simultaneously shot back up to their original lengths. By the way, if anyone knows how to produce this effect, please let me know.

I would definitely NOT use the ouija board as a tool on an investigation, due to the fact that scientifically...
1. It is VERY unreliable.
2. It cannot be a controlled.

I have used one..  I dont think they are "demonic" in nature, but I do think they attract negative spirits and energy.

I would never, ever, under any circumstances use any type of psychic, or unexplainable item in an investigation...the results can not be proven...it we cant prove it, it did didnt happen as far as anyone else is concerned...plus it would really take away from the credibility of the investigators if the public were to find out they use a metaphysical tool like a Ouija board and the like.

Ouija Boards have a reputation for attracting "lost souls" whom have not passed on through the light. Therefore, they are one of the confused souls who either do not know that they have passed, or they just refuse to go to the light because they are attached to a strong human emotion that keeps them here. Usually, those emotions are not positive. (ie. Anger, jelousy, vengeance, pain, hate.) If they had a reputation in life for being violent, liers, thieves, minipulators, etc. then they will continue to display those traits since they are still attached to them. It is not until you have passed through the Light that we are cleansed of all our heavy pains, scars, and unlikeable traits.

By nature I do not think they are demonic, however I do know thay they are used as a doorway to let entities into our world. Stop and think about the countless people who have played around with these things and had an evil entity come into their lives.  Some have been terrible in nature.

I would not go anywhere near one.  And if i did do any kind of investigation, I would not use one.

[OK, here's my experience with a ouija board. I was in the 8th grade and I was spending the night at a friends. We didn't know any better. We had no idea what we were tapping into. With only the light of a few candles we sat alone in her living room. Hands on the heart shaped mechanism we started asking for the sign of any spirit.  It wasn't long before a man by the name of John came through and showed us more than just movement on a ouija board. The candles flaired.  A closet door opened slowly, and several hangers fell from an upstairs closet. Her mother and younger siblings had gone to bed hours before. Then there was the sound of someone comeing down the staircase. There was no one there and an electronic pinball game that started playing by itself. It wasn't even plugged in.  And lastly, the following morning there was a shadow on the wall in the room we had been in the night before. It was an outline of a man, clear as day.  We tried several times to paint the shadow with thick white paint. It never disappeared. We couldn't cover the image. That was really horrifiying for me. Now, I know how lucky we were that nothing more happened to us. We completely opened ourselves up to anything and everything that night. :o :o

I have never had a bad experience using the board sorry.  My friends say they have but never witnessed anything.

I do not think that ouija is demonic in nature, but can attract unwanted malevolent spirits. I do know there are several forms of ouija, and several methods in which each form can be used. However keeping in mind that you are opening yourself up to these beings, you have no idea who you are actually communicating with, if communication has actually been made.

I myself have never used ouija, and do not feel the need to. It is not in my methodology as a paranormal investigator and researcher. And I would not use ouija on an investigation. I do not trust ouija as a communication tool between us the living, and the deceased. Another reason is there is no solid validity based on ouija results durring an investigation, or just for your own personal use.

I always hear such negative things about Ouiji boards.  I have my mother's board which is from the 60's.  I used it once I think and it turned up nothing.

My wager is that entities that can use the board for communication or manipulation.  It's a possibility that when a group of people get together and really focus their energy on something they are giving energy to an entity to manipulate.  I'm not sure if the board itself actually does anything but give a focus point for people's energy.

I definitely don't think that this would be an intelligent device to use in any kind of investigation.  There is too much room for human error.

Even with that said, what would be interesting to see is if you set a board out in a room that supposedly has paranormal activity and keep a camera on it to see if anything happens.  Maybe have someone ask questions with a (digital voice recorder also), tell them to move the board piece, then leave the room?  Has anyone ever tried that?  That might be kind of fun.

It's not the fact the board is itself could be the problem, it's the fact that we use the board as a catalyst. Our act by allowing ourselves to use the board as the catalyst, is what causes the possible danger that may or may not come later.
