EVP I caught this Sat at Pioneer Park

As some of you may know, Pioneer Park is a cemetary that was converted into a park; yet the graves are still there.  Went out there Sat night to do some investigating, overall it was an uneventfull night.  At least so I thought, until I went through my audio files.

I was sitting on a bench in the middle, had a clear view of all around me, nobody else was anywhere close.  I was just rambling on talking, EVP session lasted about 20 minutes.  Listen to the EVP, then listen to what I say afterwards, my choice of words is odd at best.  I heard nothing with the naked ear.

I listened to it both in Windows Media (which isn't that great) as well as Audacity.  I can hear something that sounds like it might be a male voice in two separate areas of the sample you posted.  What kind of recorder do you have?  I will tell you this; on one of our investigations, one of our team members has somewhat of an upset tummy.  When that person's stomach made a noise, I swear to you that it sounded like the greatest demon growl you've ever heard when we listened to our recordings later on.  We thought we hit the mother load.  The holy grail.  But...it wasn't meant to be.  A little Pepto Bismol would have settle that demon down right away.

What do you make of it?  What do you think it is?

To me in my headphones it was pretty clear, just needed to crank the volume a little.  The part I am talking about is after I ask if they minded it being a park and people playing there.  To me it sounds like a deep male voice saying "a little bit."  Which I thought was odd because right after that, I asked if they minded a little bit.

I know nobody else was around, and if you heard the whole session you would hear me comment if I moved or did something that made noise.  I don't think my stomich was growling either  ;)  To be honest, the night was pretty uneventful, I didn't expect to catch anything and was surprised when I did.

I have heard so many people say that you will find EVPs in the most mundane and unlikely places.  Not that a park that used to be a cemetery is mundane or unlikely, but you know what I mean.  Ed and Lorraine Warren have said many times that you can find them almost anywhere you go. I have also heard that EVPs can mimic what we say...BEFORE we actually say it.  That happened to me a few months back. Anyway, I guess it has been documented by many paranormal researchers that spirits/entities/ghosts can actually contribute to what we say and or think in conversation, which I thought was very interesting.  It would be great if you could somehow tone down the background hiss, but I think that might wipe out the EVP.  The program you were talking about yesterday I think, can do that very well to bring the low and quiet noises up to the forefront while taking the louder noises and muting them, so to speak.

I am not an authority by ANY stretch of the imagination.  I have a vast amount of learning to do, but everything I know thus far, I learned from the very knowledgeable people in our group and the good amount of reading I have done and continue to do.  And...well...just by doing it.  I also meant to ask you what program you used to review it.

I just listened to the EVP and I think I found what you heard.  It definitely seems like some sort of audio anomaly when taking a look at the wave forms and listening to it.  I uploaded an image of the WAV form and notice the audible audio, it's minute. it also seems like it could be a low frequency or harmonic anomaly, interesting catch but nothing definitive for me from the noise.

Heaven won't take me and hell's afraid I'll take over.

Hey Michael,  I cleaned up the file a bit and it seems like it could be a harmonic distortion.  I've uploaded the cleaned up file, let me know what you hear.

To be honest Michael, I really don't think there's anything there.  It could be your stomach or who knows what. At best, I would categorize this as a class C evp, which in my book, are not usable as evidence because it leaves too much to the imagination.

I need to look at the hosting and file conversions I did.  When I listen on my Digital recorder with headphones it was really clear.

On a side note, since I'm at work and can't see if I can post a clearer copy...

On what you said Tracy about EVP's saying something before you do.  That falls into my EVP theory of them almost being like a psychic communication.  I don't think it's the entity predicting what you said, I think it's more you somehow subconciously picked up what was said and phrased your next question from it.

Just a thought.

I got the file in WAV format from the hosting site and never converted.  Also the theory that EVPs many times happen when one is speaking, before begins to speak and after one speaks is pretty interesting because it is said that many of the communications is via telepathic and psychic energies are felt. I wouldn't doubt that our own mental energies might be felt/communicated by the spirit world in some way.. hmm now you got me thinking about how to run an EVP session soon. :)

I have a Panasonic Digital recorder, first I had to convert it from my recorder onto my computer, there it was stuck in the editing program that came with my recorder, then I converted it to a WAV file so that I could play it in audacity and post it.  It is certainly a lot clearer on my recorder.

The part I am talknig about is right after I say "resting place" count to 3, and you will hear it.

You were on the right place Johnny, on your cleaned up version.  I didn't modify it or clean it up at all.

But people quite often capture EVPs when there's nobody around also. So how would you explain them?

I wasn't saying that the living person was making the impression, but rather the entity was.  I tend to lean towards the theory that ghosts communicate via a form of telepathy.  That telepathy can be picked up by people (where we think we are seeing or hearing it) or by equipment such as in the case of EVP's.

To illustrate the point I was making with Tracy, I'll give an example.

You and I are doing an EVP session.   Were doing the normal questions, date, age, why your here and all that.  To one of those questions an entity replies "Blue," this is caught as an EVP.  SOmehow the entity imprinted the word blue on the digital recorder.  Now you and I were pretty calm and relaxed, maybe for some reason the color blue jumped into our minds.  So the next question we ask is "what is your favorite color?"

Now upon playback, it would seem that the ghost answered the question before we asked it, which I think is doubtful.  I think it's far more likely we were influenced subconciously to ask that question.
