That's the cat lady!!!  She's paying to be made to look more cat-like. Believe it or not, she has always sworn she loves the way she now looks and she's not done yet!!

Have you seen the GUY who got his entire face tattooed and had whiskers put into his cheeks as well as piercing all over his face to look like a lion?

How does a country that prides itself as being built on rugged individualism leave so little room for anything other than flaccid sameness?  One person mutilates herself trying to fit in, and the other mutilates himself trying not to fit in.  When a culture won't let people feel as though they belong for who they are, it forces them to become what they're not--which means, the most any of us can achieve is a state of graceful neurosis.  :'(  (Pay me no attention.  I just need to keep slucking the java until Karl-the-Snarl goes back into his cage.)

Its okay, "Karl the Snarl".   ;)  I think it is the yucky weather that brings out the Snarl in all of us.  Feelin' the same way.  I'm almost through w/ cup o joe #1.  You?

Seriously, I do agree with what you are saying.  Just be yourself and if that isn't good enough for everyone else.....ta hell with all of them.  Like I said, "Life is too short not to live your own truth".   Your truth....not someone else's.

People are so busy trying to "re-invent" themselves that they forget who they really are.  Some don't even take the time to figure it out in the first place.

When I was doing roller derby, I met a guy who was the mascot for one of the Texas teams (possibly Az, but I'm pretty sure it was Texas) Anyway, his entire body is tattooed w/ leopard spots. The girls kept him on a leash. Really nice guy though!

And Karl, I agree (once again) with your post. It is sad... especially having a 12 yr. old girl in this society. She is growing up where changing yourself to fit in is acceptable and almost today's "norm". Very scary...

I actually saw this woman interviewed about this (20/20, I think) many years ago.  She's actually a wealthy socialite in New York City, and wife to a multi-millionaire.  I would call her "bitter," given her comments in her interview.

She, like Michael Jackson, has such a warped sense of self. They keep thinking that more and more surgery will make them look better.  The structure of the face can only take so much and then it begins to morph into the opposite of what they had intended.  It is an obsession.  We've all heard about these people, like the lady who gets surgery after surgery to look like Barbie.  No joke.  She wants to look like Barbie.  I saw her on Oprah about a year ago.  Just so sad.  Her lips were the size of pontoons and she could hardly talk, let alone smile.  The sad thing is, she was very pretty before having any surgery at all.  Take Gene Simmons, for instance.  I liked him with his wrinkles...it made him Gene Simmons.  I never thought he was attractive, but now he looks like part Italian and part Asian. Basically, he totally looks like someone else.   

Sorry, but I'd look like the backside of a cow before I'd let anyone touch my face with a needle or scalpel.

Like Tracy, I do think it's sad that someone had this horrible a self-image that they went so far as to obtain this horrible a self-image.  What I don't pity her for is the fact that she's rich as Cresus and this is how she spent her money.  I'm not saying a little vanity isn't in all of us, but this crosses the line into selfish. The real issue for me is whether or not she's become a better person from this experience:  yes, warn people on national television not to make the mistakes she did, but surely there are other causes in life that would reach more than just other rich people with too much money to spend on anything but themselves and their Swiss plastic surgeons. 

If this were the eleventh century, this woman would be a noble Lady who, after a tragic disfigurement, sequestered herself in a leper colony or a convent and spent her days helping the unfortunate.  I'd want to know today what's she's doing to make the world a better place while she goes on hiding from it.

Yes, she is a Manhattan Socialite. I saw her a few times when I lived in that area. (A friend lives on Cental Park West in socialite-central) The rumor was that her husband loves cats so she wanted to make herself look more like a cat. (or she loved cats - one of those situations) From what I understand, she is still a socialite snob and loves her look. (I guess you would need a lot of money to convince any surgeron to risk their reputation to make you look like that) To each their own, I guess... :-\

4 Million Dollars?  OMG!  That's a face that screams "REFUND!"

It just goes to show you that she has ZERO self esteem.  If a man EVER spoke to me that way, it would be the last time he would ever speak to me.  (I'd leave...or kick his ass out!)
