Octopuses off the coast of Indonesia have become media sensations as a result of their remarkable talents recently captured on film. The sea creatures are seen collecting coconut shells, transporting them over great distances, and then using them as shelter on the ocean floor. While finding refuge in a shell is not particularly new behavior from an octopus, the intentional collection of such objects for future use constitutes the first instance of an invertebrate species using tools.

There is video here:

An idea, like a ghost, must be spoken to a little before it will explain itself!

They must be very SMALL octopuses.

(Can't tell....says video isn't available any longer.  Maybe the little critters don't want their secret out and hired an attorney, subsequently threatening to sue.  Can't say I blame them.)

That is a bummer.  The video was pretty cool actually.  Showed an Octopus climb into half of a coconut shell, then reach out with it's arms/tenticles to grab the other half and cover itself.  Like a hamster ball, but for Octpuse.  Hopefully the video will come back.

Might be a big coconut. These creatures are quite intelligent.
Sounds interesting...Go on.
