What does it take to get involved?

So I was curious what it takes to get involved in another groups investigations, or become an investigator for a group, PPI for instance?  Are there meetings that one can attent to become more formally introduced to group members?

I can't answer this for PPI, but I do know that it's harder than it should be. For instance, a lot of groups are pretty full and well staffed. Most cases we do get only require up to 6 people total (sometimes more depending on the location), so if you have a team of 10+ people then you have to rotate your members on investigations. It's tough to find a spot on a team that's already pretty full and have their wheels rolling pretty good. The group that I'm a part of has tours on the Star of India and we've actually found a few people that have bought tickets that have impressed us so we've asked them to come out and meet the rest of the group and come along on an investigation. We've actually found 1 full time member and 1 reserve member this way. I have to stress though that I this is only my perspective, and my opinions do not reflect those of other groups.

I would suggest being patient visiting the boards and posting material on the Forums.
The more you contribute the more of a potential member you look to the group.

I did fill out an application, little over a month ago or so.  I got a private message from karl about this, so I will kick back to patient mode.  I wasn't intending to sound impatient either, I was just curious.  I do definately keep an eye on the forums, thank you everyone for your replies.
