I would love to read it. This case has always fascinated me. Wouldn't it be great to investigate a case like this? The debunking, as well as all the potentially paranormal evidence would be awesome!  ;D

Hi Holly,

No worries. I'm sure our paths will cross again in the near future.  :) Yes, I'm reading Jay and Grant's book, and it's awesome. Any way you can get signed copies for our group?  ;)

Hope you guys are not being threatened by the fires.

Hi Holly,

Just wanted to thank you for sharing the article about the Enfield Poltergeist. It's one of the most interesting poltergeist cases I've ever read about. The pictures look a little hokey, but that somehow adds to the mystique of the case. It would be cool to investigate a case like that. Debunking the tricks the kids were trying to pull must have kept the investigators on their toes! ;D

The articles about James Dean's car, the Glen Tavern Inn and the Eagle Tavern were also very cool.

Wow, great video.

This case really pushed the envelope for it's day. It would be awesome to investigate a case like this with state of the art equipment.

The demonic voice thing seemed kinda hokey to me. Clearly, a lot of this was one or both girls acting out, either for attention or perhaps on some unconscious level. On the other hand, a lot of the stuff that happened isn't as easily explained away, like objects being thrown when no one is around, or the one girl floating by the window. Also, that one guy has an awesome mustache, which greatly augments his credibility, don't you agree? ;)
Anybody wanna peanut?

PPI Jason

I don't trust guys with a mustache. It's like they're trying to hide something  ;) (kidding)

I agree with Brigham on the voices. I'm not totally familiar with poltergeist hauntings, but I remember at the last training that one of the Brians mentioned "Thought Form." I did a little bit of research on the web and, so far, only found articles discussing "Tulpas" and "Homunculi." But from what I understand so far "Thought Form" seems to be either the exertion of psychic power to create a small being (like that episode of "X-Files" where the homeowner's association president mentally created a creature which then went around and did horible things to the people in the neighborhood who didn't keep their grass cut to the right height) or exertion of psychic power to some type of telekinetic effect (one article I read discussed how a group of psychics were supposedly able to produce tapping sounds on tables by thoughts alone). From some other sources I've read it seems that "Thought Form" poltergeist activity seems to occur frequently in homes where adolescents are living.

So, in short, if I'm understanding this correctly, it seems like the Enfield haunting is a manifestation of "Thought Form." I'd be interested to learn more about this topic if someone has anything to add.

Thought Forms seem to be common to most Poltergeist cases that I've read about. The Bell Witch case, the Doris Bither case and the Enfield case all started with objects being manipulated, knocks, and other anomalies, then toward the end a human figure manifested. Tibetan mysticism defines a "Tulpa" as a "Magical Emination" or a paranormal entity that's created by the conscious effort of a focal person. Thought Forms are also described in native American mysticism, and are probably common to many cultures throughout the world. A modern experiment allegedly carried out in a semi-controlled situation was the "Philip Experiment", where a group of students overseen by a Psychologist attempted to "create" a ghost. "Paranormal Theorists Suggest" that poltergeist cases are manifestations of psychokinetic energy created by the "Focal" person. The resulting paranormal activity is not a manifestation of a paranormal entity, but by the mind of the Focal. Over a period of time, a Thought Form begins to take form, and assumes "responsibility" for the paranormal manifestations before dissipating. This field appears to be the case in a majority of poltergeist cases, but not all of them follow this pattern. Of course this is all speculation and not supported by anything other than observation in the field.

Here are a couple of articles on the subject of Thought Forms:
