Wow, that's really interesting, Shelley. I'll have to look at this when I'm not so tired.

Thanks for sharing that!

It's a bug on the camera lens! cool clip though...I love everyone's reactions..."it's an angel, there was an angel here" CLASSIC!!! I personally think it is a baby silverfish. The IR lights are probably illuminating the underbelly of the bug, giving it that blueish look. Even though the camera is recording in full color, the IR lights are still on. It's super blury because that camera does not have an auto focus, it is set to focus on the pumps...not on the surface of the lens. Those are my two cents.

I've watched the clip a few times, and I have to agree; it's something crawling on the camera lens.

Dave, I think you're right on the money. I was wondering what kind of bug could be long enough and thin enough to cause a hazy image like that. Your suggestion of a silverfish is consistent with the type of insect body form that could cause this effect.  ;D

Isn't it amazing how quickly people jump to crazy conclusions? James Randi has been ranting about this for years and years. I mean, c'mon, people! What the heck are you thinking?

I know it's part of the same phenomenon that Randi was talking about, but the media does no service to the truth in chronicling people's "wow" reaction to it, over and over again.  "Gosh, if the news is taking it seriously, then it must be something extraordinary."

Yeah I agree Karl. The media hype just encourages rediculous speculation even though, if you've ever seen a bug in your life it should be fairly obvious. David that is exactly what popped into my head when I saw this. But despite it all, I really think it was an angel......isn't that cute. ???

What's grosser is when you pick up a box and the little critter run out! Silverfish are just plain weird.  :)

:-\ Nice . . .  I'd rather deal with a spider scurrying out of a box than a silver fish.  I agree, they're really weird!

Good point, but as you said, the camera's infrared LEDs can cause color distortions such as this. I have seen centipedes that are very bright blue, and I'm sure you will agree with me it moves like something is crawling on the security camera housing just in front of the camera lens. Watch the way it moves... it's obviously a bug.  ;D

I just find it interesting to see how the public reacts to these "events". Like the lady who said "It was an angel"... LOL!

Silverfish may be silver, but they sort of have this metallic shine to them which can reflect many different colors of light.  Unfortunately I know these bugs all too well...I consistently find them in my shower and crawling along the celing.  It's not fun, but my cats tend to eat them.

I'd rather see these than a spider!  I hate spiders.  I think me and Steve G have a little too much in common sometimes, although I don't have an extreme phobia like he does, I do tend to jump on chairs if they are crawling across the carpet. :-\
