While in Vegas for the tradeshow last week, I paid a visit to my Aunt and Grandmother. As I was powering down a killer bowl of my grandma's spaghetti (the best I've ever tasted), my Aunt was asking me about PPI because she saw it on my Facebook page. So I was sharing about all the great people on the PPI team and what I'm learning from PPI.
That's when my grandma told me about my great great grandmother, Ann (or Anna) Kaiser. I never knew this but my great great grandmother was a spiritualist and a medium in Lily Dale in New York. As I understand it, Lily Dale was a popular spiritualist community. My grandmother told me, as a young girl, that she remembers being present and watching my great great grandmother hold seances and give readings to people who would travel long distances to see her.
I found this VERY interesting because I never knew this aspect of my family history.
What I'm wondering is if anyone on the team or the forums has heard of Ann Kaiser and/or the spiritualist community of Lily Dale in New York. Any info would be help me learn a little more about my great great grandmother.
I'm not aware of this, but I'd be interested to find out of spiritualism is genetic. You'll get your chance during the upcoming Ouija Board experiment ;)

Here's a very interesting book about Lily Dale:
Lily Dale: The True Story of the Town that Talks to the Dead , by Christine Wicker.
Also, there is a place in San Diego County with a similar history: Harmony Grove. It's a spiritualist community full of psychics and a church. I spent a weekend there.
I've never really considered myself as having any spiritualist abilities, but I have always been hyper-sensitive to the emotions of others however not to the point of being an empath.
Debra, thanks for the book recommendation. I'll continue to hunt and see what I can learn.
