Title: Thomas Alva Edison
Post by: ljiljanac on February 06, 2010, 05:50:34 PM
Thomas Alva Edison announced he was building a device that could communicate with the dead.  Plans were drawn up.  Prototypes were completed after his death, according to his plans, but none worked.   Edison died in 1931.  He was contacted by his assistants during seances for guidance on those prototypes and proposed changes were made.  The plans and prototypes mysteriously vanished.   No one knows for sure if he was joking, or if the plans and prototypes really existed.

I think Tesla took everything, using a time machine, and now everything Edison did is hidden in the mountains near Cripple Creek, CO.....

Thomas Edison was a jerk to Tesla. He asked him to help on a project and when it came time for Edison to pay Tesla, Edison stiffed him. And so started the rift between them.

If my memory serves me correctly, they have something about his ghost communicating machine in the Edison museum in Jersey! I remember a field trip there as a kid and getting in trouble because I hopped the velvet rope to get a closer look at it and possibly try it out! (I was a weird kid, what can I say?) It was probably just a prop that wasn't even close to the real thing, but it was there!

Gary - nice to "see" you again as well!

Tracy - it takes one to know one! We cool folks need to stick together, after all!

Debra - I haven't officially met you yet and forgive my asking - but are you an east coaster by any chance? If not, please take it as a compliment when I say that you have an Upstate NY feel to you! I hope you don't find it condescending when I say that on the few topic threads I've been able to check out (I'm doing that whole work thing at the moment) I've been really impressed by your insights.

Wow, Jen, you must be pretty special for Karl to summon one of his famous "pox" outbreaks in your honor. He usually saves his curses for very special occasions. It's good to "see" you back on the boards.

Wow! I feel so special!!!

Lillie- it's a pleasure to meet you!

Tim - Thank you so much for asking! She is amazing (I am admittedly biased) She runs now and says "ball," "mommy," "daddy," "up" and "off" as well as uses some sign language. It's amazing how brilliant you can think your kid is for every milestone they reach!

Jason - Good to see you too! Karl is one of my most favorite people on the planet and I count myself very lucky to even know him, much less get to call him my friend. The pox was well earned by certain persons.
