Post by: PPI Karl on October 24, 2009, 11:34:21 AM
Some nice video captures of the recent fireball in Ontario, caused by an object no larger than a tricycle:

Awesome! Love it! I have seen fireballs like this and it never ceases to amaze me. Did you notice the fragments falling away from the main fireball?

LOL. It may surprise you to learn that such events happen almost every night. Here's a link to the American Meteor Society's webpage. Be sure to check out the 2009 fireball sightings catalog. http://www.amsmeteors.org/fireball/fireball_log2009.html#loglist

A new theory suggests "the platinum in your wedding ring is not of this Earth." Are precious metals like platinum excluded from having been part of the formation of planet Earth due to Earth's enormous heat at the time of its creation? http://www.tonic.com/article/extraterrestrial-precious-metals/#

I agree beautiful and scary. Legends say that when you see a meteor that bright it is not a meteor. It is an angel coming to claim a soul from someone who recently died.

I saw one that bright the night my father died. :o
