Title: Human Radiance
Post by: PPI Tim on August 27, 2009, 01:21:52 AM
Hey Guys,
I was reading in a book called "The Rough Guide to Unexplained Phenomena 2nd edition" and I came across interesting story about Human Radiance. I tells of a story back in May of 1934 about the "Luminous Woman of Pirano". Signora Anna Monaro was an asthma patient, and over a period of several weeks she would emit a blue glow from her breasts as she slept. Many doctors came to witness the phenomenon, which was visible for several seconds at a time.  Theories were all over the field from electromagnetic radiation of certain compounds in her skin to luminous bacteria. They still don't know what was causing the glow but she was not the only one who turned blue. Dead bodies have also know to glow.
What do you think can make people give off a glow?

HA... here is my theory!

Has anyone ever witnessed or experienced Red Tide personally?  I have, and it's very cool.  Now, I'm sure you're all wondering where I am gong with this.  Gary, you think these glowy people somehow ingested tiny microscopic plankton and is glowing inside them?  I definately don't think it's Red Tide occuring in these people.  I do know that there are still a lot of unexplained or uncurable sicknesses that the Human Body can throw at us.  Asthma for instance.  We have medical treatments that help with, and reduce effects, but we can't cure it, which means there is much more we don't know.

I ALSO know that I have never seen, or heard of people glowing... dead or alive.  What I'm thinking... there is some rare undiscovered phenomenom occuring inside the girls lungs, possibly during an attack.  Was she having any sort of Asthma attack during the experience?  Clearly I have more questions about the other dead glowing folks... all female or both genders?   And their cause of deaths, if it even talks about that.

Okay... enough of THAT!  Tim, are there any pictures in that book you are reading?  I like pictures!  :P

P.S.
sorry for my grammer... it isn't the greatest!

Hey, guys, I've been doing an exercise in my American Lit. class this week where students have to bring in stories that they pass around whenever they're with family or friends, or stories that are passed down through generations.  Someone today talked about a cabin in Pine Valley that's been in the family since the 1970s but which was actually built around 1910.  One of her true stories was of her mother and cousin finding stale dried spaghetti at the back of one of the cupboards:  they cooked it, didn't trust the taste of it, and dumped it out the cabin window for the critters, only to find . . . it was glowing in the dark!

I asked her if that were a tall tale, and she said, no, it was exactly what both her relatives reported.  Weird!  Has anyone else heard of this phenomenon?  Of spoiled spaghetti glowing in the dark?

The pasta could have bio-luminescent bacteria on it.
The story that I read in Rough Guide to Unexplained Phenomena mentioned that this could be one of the explanations. The article goes on to mention biochemicals Luciferin and Luciferase and a substance ATP(adenosine triphosphate). Normally these are kept apart but when brought together give off a faint luminescence.
