Are we having solar flares today, or somethin'?  Cable services and even some internet services are going kaplooey, and check out this data on the San Diego power grid during the last hour!

Nope. We're at Solar Minimum. According to the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center, all is calm.  http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/SWN/
