Title: Orbs: Just Say "No"?
Post by: PPI Karl on March 30, 2009, 01:39:07 PM
We get a lot of inquiries about pictures with orbs, and a lot of disappointed responses when, like other groups who follow the scientific method, we have to tell people that we don't really give orbs too much credit as paranormal phenomena.  I thought it might be interesting for the members of PPI to express why we are an orb-free investigation group, and invite our forum guests to respond with their own ideas.

Anyone want to step up to the mic first?  P^/

As a forum guest I'd like to share why I personally don't credit orbs as being paranormal evidence. I'll be as quick as possible here, and, well, "orbs" are just way to easy to replicate. If you can replicate orbs so easily then what sort of credibility backs them up? This is certainly the "orbs for dummies" version, I don't want to bore everyone with a 3 to 5 paragraph essay on the topic so I'll just include a video:

I'll add something real quick here too...a real paranormal orb is something you can see with your own two eyes...you don't need a camera to see one. They emit their own light source.

Dave, your comments make perfect sense.  And "sense" is what much of this field craves, unfortunately.

I found this posted on another forum.  Oh my god, I nearly peed my pants over it:

Orbs lie to you.
"They tell you things only a child can understand"

Having said that, I think a rogues gallery of orbs needs to be created to help educate people on what is and what is not paranormal.

Looks more like a chakra balancing chart.

"Have you had your chakras balanced today"?  (comes with a free oil change and filter)  :P
