dude i can't believe it. I love the first one
That's great news. I loved the first one with Michael Rennie and Patricia Neal. It's a great movie. I have it on DVD. I also have Forbidden Planet with Leslie Nielsen. That would be a great remake as well. But, I can't imagine Keanu Reeves playing the lead.
I just saw the trailer for it. It looks awesome. Coming out Dec. 12. I'll be one of the first in line.

Forbidden Planet is one of the greatest science fiction special effects films of all time, IMO. That scene where they walk into the heart of the Krell machine and Walter Pigeon says, "Twenty miles! . . . Twenty miles!"? I've lost count of all the sci fi films to come afterwards that have just blatantly ripped off the visual effect of that.
I bought
Forbidden Planet almost fifteen years ago on . . . (wait for it) . . . laser disc! (
ugh!) I still keep a working LD player just for movies like this. If they remake it, they
must--I repeat,
must--leave Robby the Robot unchanged--not one straggly wire on his domed glass head, I tells ya! However, I'm sure they're going to crap it up by "modernizing" him.
Every time I teach William Shakespeare's
The Tempest, I bring out
Forbidden Planet. It's been a pat saying for me for the past twenty years, whenever I see some high-profile celebrity or politician screw up: "Monsters from the id, John. Monsters!" ;D
wow karl thanks I love scifi movie.
I agree with you, Karl. They can't change Robby the Robot. I loved the sounds effects as well. I don't think you can duplicate it.
"Monsters from the id"! What a great line!
