Title: Unprofessionalism?
Post by: Donna on February 13, 2008, 09:54:08 AM
Found this on eBay. Personally, I think selling evidence for profit is wrong. It almost exploits the client. It certainly compromises the integrity of the organization in my book.

What do you all think?

I think two things, one its unprofessional, and two its fake.  Thats why its being sold.

Oh and by the way I have some oceanfront property in Nevada if anyone is interested...

I don't mean to be unkind, but the writing in the ad copy!  Oy veh!  I smell "carnival barker" all over this auction item. Oh, and, yes, it's definitely a fake. Check out the misaligned edge of the step on the superimposed image.  It's sloppy even for Photoshop.  BTW, Tim, I'm very interested in the property and am willing to sink my retirement nest egg into it.  Please send me all the details. ;)

What's really bad about this is that some poor soul who doesn't know any better is actually going to buy it....unless it is reported to Ebay as being a possible fake.

You know, this kind of crap really ticks me off.
There are some of us out there trying to establish ourselves as legitimate research and earn credibility in this field.  Then we get all these TV shows, idiots calling themselves paranormal investigators ruining it for us and causing locations to be closed, shotty evidence being presented and stuff like this.
Frustrates the heck out of me.

I think it frustrates us and makes us all angry.  However, if anyone IS selling something fake on EBay, you can have them shut down.  The problem is.....it is a little harder to prove something is "fake" in this circumstance, so it is easier to get away with it, so someone is going to get duped.

I would expect nothing less from a group with such a hokey website.  :)  I mean, c'mon, people. Lose the stupid music!

The photo is obviously faked, so whoever is dumb enough to buy it deserves it. I will download it and give it a once-over in my image editing software and let you know what I find.

Regards,

Brian Miller

Brian, are you talking about this website. . . .

http://www.centralohioparanormalresearchgroup.com/

If so, I agree with you. . . did ya catch the borderline racist remark at the bottom of their page?? :o LOL

I just question if they're affiliated as the above is the Central Ohio Paranormal Research Group and the group flying their colors on the eBay listing is referring to themselves as the West Central Ohio Paranormal Research Group.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but that's a print taken from a painting on the step, not a picture.  Portraits were fairly common up until the advent of a little invention called the camera! I mean, who do you know that has a had an actual painting commisioned of a family member (unless you're loaded!) and if they do, it's don't think it'd be a little 8x10.  And after zooming in on the print it's a) not that great of a painting - the features are pretty generic and b) the artist needs to learn a bit more about perspectives.

These guys just piss me off!  We should report them to eBay then have Vinnie and Guido go pay them a visit.  Groups like this (if you can call them a group) should not be allowed to exist!

I know, I know, we're not supposed to knock other groups.  But when someone's so blatant about something, you just can't help it.

Hi Donna,

I have to admit that both of these groups have hokey websites, but the West Central Ohio Paranormal Research Group that has the dorkiest one.
