It's the latest monster on the market.

Actually, now that I've searched around, it sort of resembles a dead mythological griffin in a way.
Trippy looking creature.
I doubt if it real. I need more photos of the monster.
You find something like that and you can only take ONE picture? ::)

Yeah, and who would let some guy drag it away stating that he was going to mount it on his wall? And animal control wouldn't come? Hmmmm.
I know where I seen a creature like that before.
It was from a movie that was made in the 70's called
"At the Earth's Core"
It had Doug McClure.
They were telepathic and they controlled humans to be thier slaves.
I gotta keep my dungeon creatures chained up better, especially the baby griffins. Any resemblance? :P

Ooooooh. Caroline Munro
and Douggie McClure--a cinematic event! My favorite part of that movie were the sound effects; almost as good as Sid and Marty Krofft's
Land Of the Lost.P.S.: It's a dead raccoon.
There is no way that animal is a sea-bound creature. It's 100% mammal. Mammals need air to breathe, so mankind would have seen this creature swimming near the surface of the water for centuries. I think they nailed it by saying it was a raccoon whose nasal cartilage and fur rotted away in the ocean. This is in no way some monster creature that is a brand new find for mankind!
It could be this old lady I saw in the Library.
The face is looks the same.
She did check out a travel book about the east coast. :-\
Its hard to say what this was before it started to decompose. However, I do not think it was a unseen sea monster of some kind.
Here's a raccoon paw...looks pretty long, just like the "monster"

And here's a raccoon skull...looks just like the "monster"

Here's another article on it...AND ANOTHER PICTURE :)

So it's either a raccoon, or a pit bull.
PIT BULL.... That is what it is I think.

photoshop
I agree; I think it's a dog that's been in the water for a long time. See the restraints tied around one of it's legs? Some cruel bastard probably tied it up and threw it in the water.
I still think it is this old lady I saw in the library.
I think I know who you mean. I saw her crossing Golfcrest last week and snapped this pic:

Hey, I think that's the person who stole my car. ;D
Thanks for the 2nd photo Dave. From that angle it definitelty looks like a dog.
Jeff Corwin weighed in on this and identified the creature as a decomposing raccoon. There was a reference to him in one of the linked articles, but it seems to have disappeared. However, here is an image posted to support the theory:

Thanks Karl. Now it's clear as day. Dog! :P
No, I thought it was a raccoon the whole time, if you go back to my very first post. :)
wow those pics make me think raacoon. Not dog know. Are they going to do dna test?
Quote from: PPI Dave on August 05, 2008, 06:16:15 PMSo it's either a raccoon, or a pit bull. No, it's a raccoon. Definitely. This post has not been altered or fornicated in any way.
Ah yes, there it is. ;)

When it's Strom Thurman. ;D Whoops. Still a monster after all.

Hey Karl,
I really can't tell which is which?
Which picture is Senator Thurman again
Ahaha, I just chortled (as I was eating some oatmeal) at Karl's post of Storm Thurman and the Montauk picture and my cube neighbors heard me. Only if they knew... :D
Karls posts sometimes have that effect on me at work too. I have to be careful ;)
Here's the real question: How did a raccoon end up in the ocean?
Believe it or not some Raccoons tend to hang out near ship ports. Ellie and I have seen one walk ONTO the Queen Mary from the gangway. There's plenty of garbage near ports, and raccoons LOOOOVE garbage. I would guess that this poor guy was an accidental stowaway on a ship, and it may have been chased overboard by a crew member once they found it. Unfortunately they were too far from the coast for this little guy to make it back alive.
And that my friend, is how the Raccoon ended up washed ashore. He must've been drifting out there for quite some time for his shizzle to start rotting.
Makes sense to me.
Randy Racoon finds himself onto a ship.
The ship heads out to sea.
Randy is discovered by Rizzo the Rat and his crew.
Randy is forced to sleep with the fishes.
End of story
Another racoon on the high seas story from Jan. 2008.
