Title: a Bigfoot captured in Georgia - breaking news seriously
Post by: johnny on August 13, 2008, 01:39:23 PM
This has been breaking news and they are going to hold a news conference real soon from what I've been reading. But I saw two photos of it as well and don't know what to think. but it really looks like Harry from Harry and the Hendersons.

Don't know if this is a joke or serious but it's making pages everywhere.

Their website is being hammered and keeps going down. trying to find some news outlet syndicating the story...

I don't think it's an issue any world-class news agency would take up right away.  That's why Fox News has.

If you go to google news and search for bigfoot then sort by date, it seems FOX news has been picking it up.

Also looking at this Chupucabra video, that is one interesting canine and it seems to correlate with all the Chupucabra hunters findings in the past, that it seems like a canine of some sorts. some thinking it was a large hairless wolf.. hmm...

So just because they have never seen it before it is automatically a chupacabra suspect?  I find that pretty ridiculous.  That animal was pretty small to take on full size cattle as the "chupacabra" suspects claim.

As for bigfoot, if the evidence is supported, this could be exciting news in the world.  I can't jump to any conclusion until more is known.  It's hard to say from just a picture.  I'd be interested to listen or watch the press conference.  Does anyone know if it will be aired?

I too am extremely skeptical about this story. The face in the original photo looks like a mask on a dead bear carcass. I would only get excited about such a find if it were being presented by a credentialled primatologist.

Who fills a freezer with water by the way?  If these are experienced hunters as they claim, wouldn't they know how to freeze their catch properly?  I hate to pull the redneck card out for this one but it seems deserving...which in turn means I have to post a joke.   ;D

Two rednecks were hunting one day and all of a sudden one of them keels over, out like a light.
The other redneck, not knowing what to do quickly calls 911. When the operator asks "what's wrong?", He says "I don't know we were just walking along and Bubba just falls over.
The operator asks "Is he dead?" and the redneck says "I don't know that either".
The operator says "well you need to make sure!"
The redneck says okay and lays the phone down.
A few seconds pass and then the operator hears "cha click, boom!"
The redneck comes back on the line and asks "Now What?"

I thought from the beginning that the image of the carcass seemed too much like that of Harry from Harry and the Hendersons...  fake.  something about it didn't seem right...  however, lots of news affiliates are picking this up now... it's spreading.  If this is a hoax, it's a good one and it's really getting good media coverage.  If it's genuine, well, just slap me and call me silly.

google news search on bigfoot
http://news.google.com/news?ned=us&hl=en&ned=us&scoring=n&q=bigfoot&btnG=Search (http://news.google.com/news?ned=us&hl=en&ned=us&scoring=n&q=bigfoot&btnG=Search)

this article claims one of the people who claim to have found bigfoot has been involved in hoaxes before. 3 times in fact.. hmm..
http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080814/BLOG01/80814030/1001/NEW (http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080814/BLOG01/80814030/1001/NEW)

Yeah I can't believe that Chupucabra one made so much news, maybe trying to de-mystify the Chupucabra as an unknown type of canine instead of the half man/monster it was thought to be?  It looks like a furless canine to me.

It's disturbing to me that people do this kind of thing.

"Everyone who has talked down to us is going to eat their words," Whitton said at the time.

On Tuesday, Clayton County Police Chief Jeff Turner said he has not spoken to Whitton but processed paperwork to fire him.  "Once he perpetrated a fraud, that goes into his credibility and integrity," Turner said. "He has violated the duty of a police officer."

Let's see how he likes those words served up when he loses his job as an officer.  Idiot.

The voicemail update is ridiculous   :D

Thanks for the link to MSNBC.  Much appreciated.

I do wish, however, MSNBC understood how equally "uncredible" these so-called reporters look devoting this much precious time to the story and congratulating themselves in this smarmy way for allegedly not having fallen for the hoax.  It's this sort of insufferable self-aggrandizement that made me stop watching broadcast news altogether.  These people sound more like they're bitching about the story over lunch at the Soup Plantation.  WTF?  "A . . . "possum"?  I've never heard of a possum"  And then he doesn't get what she's making fun of and starts joking about "opossum" being the Irish version.  Clearly, the point is not to say anything but merely wax glibly and seem witty.

Typical k-hole of empty newsy-ness.  For cryin' out loud, get the friggin' deposit back on the the Sasquatch costume and call the story a "wrap".  Hey you MSNBC paparazzi wannabes, can we please talk about nuclear missiles in Poland now?

I agree with you completely, they are scooping these stories too. Not questioning the credibility of the sources instead of covering The Cold War II.  Really crazy thing about the Georgia/Russia situation is if anyone has ever played the game Ghost Recon (the original) which came out in 2000.  The game is about Georgia and New Ossettia rebels and in the game Russia invades Georgia in August 2008 a weird coincidence?
