Weird dream

I know it's always weird when people share weird or funny dreams that they had...it just doesn't translate well from the dream-state to a conversation with a live person... BUT  I had a weird dream that I wanted to share.

I think because I've been thinking a lot about evidence review and EVPs and how to be a better investigator, those things worked their way into my dream.

I dreamt that PPI was called out to some tropical locale where we needed to catch evidence of a ghost-submarine.  But the waters were perilous and teeming with dangerous sharks.  So Karl's plan for us was to don SCUBA gear, and go down in teams of two in a shark cage.  And in the shark cage one person was using an audio recorder to capture ghost-sub EVPs (weird!) and the other person was using a miniDV recorder to try and catch footage of the alleged ghost-sub.

But I was getting frustrated during the shark-cage vigils (three words I never thought I'd use together) because the snapping shrimp, whale songs, barking sharks (!!!), and military sonar pings were all dirtying up my audio.

I woke up thinking I was absolutely NUTS!   :P

That's a MOVIE not just a dream.  Write that stuff down, brother.  (I guess you did....huh)

PPI Debra

Damian,

Do you want it analyzed?

If anyone is interested we could set up  dream analyzing forum in the Page of Wands section.

Debra, that is a Fantastic idea!!!

Damian, that was indeed a crazy dream, but I'm gad you shared it.  I have my own share of strange reoccurring dreams.

An idea, like a ghost, must be spoken to a little before it will explain itself!

PPI Tracy

Debra, that is a fantabulous idea!!!  I love it!

Gary - I have the same thing also.  Reocurring dreams.  Makes you wonder why.

Yes, yes, yes! :)
If you want to end your misery, start enjoying it, because there's nothing the universe begrudges more than our enjoyment.

Damian

Debra, I would love to have that dream analyzed!  It was one of the few times that I woke up and was able to remember what I was dreaming about.

The mind/subconscious/collective unconscious speaks to us in symbols
Water is a way of referring to the matrix of creation. Often the subconscious/unconscious in a dream is water/ocean/ river.

Damain, PPI now represents a part of your identity. You are now on a new mission in foreign territory (tropical local).  You and PPI are going to learn to differentiate manifestations (paranormal phenomena) of the subconscious/collective unconscious of other people (PPI Clients).
PPI does this by "swimming in foreign waters" (the clients home or business).
Damian, your mind is not sure if this is dangerous or not (sharks). Yet, you truly trust Karl and his guidance (He gives you a shark cage and a partner).
Damain is an Intuitive, according to the Keirsy Temperament Sorter. The opposite of this is the quality Sensing. Sensors are the detective Sherlock Holmes types. (In your dream it's detective Karl Sherlock.)   Intuitives "just know" without having to sort through a lot of detail.   Your frustration comes from working with "sensing": discerning minutiae and technical details (sharks, barks, sonar pings & snapping shrimp).  For the Intuitive, developing Sensing qualities is like training with different muscles. The more you do it the less frustrating it will be.

Well done Debra!  That's pretty impressive!   :o

Your identification and interpretation of the symbols in my dream feels relevant and accurate.  I hadn't considered the dichotomy of my Intuitive nature operating in a position that requires Sensing practices...fortunately my Intuitive score was close to the middle between Intuitive and Sensing, so I'm thinking I'll be able to adapt easily.

Very interesting stuff!  I think this should be a feature on the Page of Wands section...great idea.

Thanks for that insight, Debra!

Thanks for the good feed back!
You will adapt easy. You mind was just running a commentary on the process. There wasn't a problem.

Debra, I was curious as to where the interpretation comes from.  Are there common symbols that appear in dreams that have the same meaning in any dream?  Do you use any of your intuition in the analysis?

At lunch yesterday at work I was talking with some friends about my dream and how I felt your analysis was right on the money.  One of my friends used to work for a woman who's thesis was about Dream Analysis, and she was shaing with me what she remember from her old boss.  What she was telling me, according to her boss's thesis, is that everything in the dream is in some way representative of you (the dreamer) because really you have no other frame of reference.  So when you begin looking at people, places, and things in your dream, they all represent different parts of you, your thoughts, and emotions.  And it takes practice and self-honesty and self-awareness to be able to analyse your own dreams and what they represent.

So that conversation yesterday got me wondering about how you do your analysis.  It's all so cool, and what a great window into yourself!

Damian,
There are many schools of thought on dream analysis. I was taught by living through the teachings daily, for nine months. I had 2 teachers at the time. One was a Jungian analyst. Every day we went through all my dreams (I dream a lot). I took piles of notes.

The basis of my technique is Jungian, which uses universal symbols, myths, and archetypes. Later, when I met the Tibetans and spent a lot of time with them, I began to learn more about how our dreams can be part of the community: dreams about other people and their lives, dreams about our country and what's happening in the white house, warnings about others medical problems, etc. In their tradition, it's natural to talk with the dead in the dream state.  In their tradition, not everyone can analyze dreams. It takes a certain skill gained through meditation.

For me the dream analysis process is fluid, and organic, so I have to use my intuition, balanced with what I have learned. The people in my life, friends and family dreams come to me to analyze their dreams, so I get lots of practice and feed back.

Not all dreams are about pieces of your own self. That is a basic idea to start from, though. Your dream was part of a commentary on your process within a group dynamic. The process of dream analysis is not set in stone. Sometimes, a certain symbol will mean something for one person, and be different for another.

If you'd like, I can share some personal examples to illustrate the process.

Also there is a wonderful, fascinating book that shows how dreams of key figures in history have effected the flow of history: The Secret History of Dreaming, by Robert Moss. It's at Amazon, and Borders carries it as well.

Yeah, Debra, if you wouldn't mind, or it's not too personal, I'd be very interested in some examples.
